Teaching Philosophy
Fostering a learning atmosphere that is safe, positive and supportive
I deeply believe that everyone has a creative and musical soul, and that everyone has a unique musical voice that deserves to be heard – whether it’s within individual or group settings, I always encourage students to feel empowered and successful.
I aim to create a balanced program of theory, technique, ear-training, sight-reading, and performance opportunities; and I am dedicated to making the process of learning and performing as inviting, exciting, and challenging as possible.
Stephanie is an active member of the Association of Body Mapping Educators (ABME), Oregon Music Teachers Association, and the Music Teachers National Association. She is committed to practicing diligently and frequently engages with other musicians and musical performances that develop her personal and professional growth.

Course Overview:
Each weekly class follows a clear, repeatable structure so you always know what to expect.
We’ll begin with a practical warm-up focused on a music theory concept, then work on a featured piece arranged in three levels (beginner through late-intermediate), allowing you to engage at the level that feels right now, not where you think you “should” be.
The final 20 minutes of each session are dedicated to personal repertoire, giving you space to work on a piece of your choice with guidance and feedback.
Whether your background is jazz, classical, pop, or a mix—and whether you practice daily or squeeze in a few minutes when you can—this course is designed to meet you where you are and help you enjoy playing again.
